Day 9: 'Enjoying Cole & Tucson’

Laundry day!  Excitement over laundry day?  Well, it's our first day of doing laundry in a laundromat type setting since we were in college.  The facilities at this resort are extremely nice and we had all of our laundry done in 1 hour!  (Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every home came with 4 washers and 4 dryers?)

As we got into the truck to go pick up Cole and take him to lunch during his break from classes, Rick had an epiphany.  It only took 3,700 miles of driving the truck before he realized that there was a gas gauge on the instrument panel.  :) Now to his credit, the instrument panel is quite involved and is a combination of digital readings and your normal gauges.  Since all the info he generally needs to look at is front and center and all digital, he never noticed the old fashioned gauges and missed seeing the gas gauge entirely.  But it gets worse!  As we were driving Cole around and finishing up the long list of errands, we both remarked to Cole that we wished the big control panel had a clock on it.  Cole laughed and pointed to a small area on the panel where it showed the time.  Again!  3,700 miles and we both had never seen it!

While we were driving around Tucson, we saw a neat store called Copenhagen, which had very modern (Danish) furniture in it, so we decided to walk around.  Rick and Cole had fun bouncing a unique type of chair and we found the absolute most comfortable office chair ever (for $1,500).  Gulp!

After dropping Cole off at his dorm in time for his next class, we went to visit Randy & Darcy at their home.  Randy’s pottery sales has been very strong lately and he has started doing vendor shows again.  We told him that when we checked in to our RV resort, we got a packet of information and few local magazines.  One of them even had his pottery in it!

As we drove back to the RV, we talked about our trip thus far and realized that we have been on the go, non-stop, since we left.  Rick hasn’t had a nap once and I haven’t gotten any of my magazines read or any of my digital organizing projects even started.  That’s not to say we haven’t been having fun – we absolutely have and we do feel relaxed.  However, we also realize that we are going to want to start incorporating some “lazy camping days” into our schedule and try to adhere to our original idea of spending quite a few days in one spot/town rather than quickly moving on to the next one.  I was kind of worried that we would be bored and just sitting in the trailer a lot, but so far, the absolutely opposite has happened and our days have been completely filled up.
