Day 4: 'Long Haul Driving Day Through California’

After driving ALL day, 540 miles, from 7am until 3:30pm, we finally arrived at the very popular boondocking (free camping) spot at the south entrance of Joshua Tree National Park.

We had to go down an incredibly questionable dirt road and endure a major scrape down the entire side of the trailer from a tree branch, but finally got the trailer on level spot and set about our routine for setting up camp.  (The first damage to a new vehicle is the hardest to endure, but it is inevitable and it’s finally past us.)

The animals got settled in and we took stock of all the mishaps that the long bumpy road had caused the RV.  Thankfully there weren’t many.

The sunset was amazing and we hoped to see some stars, but the moon was too bright and the clouds were too plentiful.  Being out in the middle of nowhere with barely any civilization around us was truly amazing - so very quiet.  We are starting to understand why so many people love this lifestyle.
